Home Page CTA Carousel

Instructions:

Create the Data Item:

Steps:

• Create a carousel data item in the Home Page CTA Carousels folder [/sitecore/content/Wattscom/Data/Home Page CTA Carousels], for each carousel needed.
  Note: Multiple carousels can be created with different items. To create a new carousel, start by right clicking on the folder and inserting another Home Page CTA Carousel. Name your carousel something meaningful so you know what it is later when you connect its data source to a page.
• If adding a new item to a current carousel, right click on the carousel and "insert Home Page CTA Carousel Slide". Name your slide something meaninful for ease of editing later.
• Populate Call To Action Standard Fields:
• Digizuite Asset - Browse to the DAM and select the image & image quality
• Destination Link:
  Insert Link (internal site link)
  -or-
  Insert External Link (offsite link)
• Body Message (Rich text editor)
• Populate Publishing Standard Fields:
• If publshing immediately, no Publish date is required.
• You can set the item to Unpublish at a future date.
  Note: If setting an unpublish date, set the date and then publish the item for that change to take effect.

Add the Data item to the Page:

• Go to the page you'd like to add the data item to. Click Presentation tab, then Details.
• Go to the Final Latout Tab
• Click Edit
• Click Controls
• Double click to edit an existing Rendering or click the Add button to add a new one.
• Edit an existing Rendering:
• Update the Placeholder (will always be "Main" unless a specific column is needed. If that's true see instructions on columns here.
• Populate Data source with the appropriate Data Item (likely the one you just created above).
• Add a new Rendering:
• Click the Add button
• Select Rendering from the following folders (Watts, Components, Call To Action Components, Global, Layout, Media Grid Components)
• Add Placeholder - Main or a specific column placeholder. See instructions on columns here.
• If you already have a data item created, click on the box "Open the Properties dialog box immediately". Browse to the item in the Data Source field and select the OK button.
• Select OK
• Preview the page to see your edits. Click Publish, then Preview OR via the specific author link.

Additional Details:

There are a number of things you can do with this rendering, with the buttons on the right. The first thing you'll need to do is move it in the hierachy you'd like to see it within on the page. You can accomplish that by using the Move Up and/or Move Down buttons.

The Change button can be used to change the rendering to a different rendering. (ie. Heading 2 vs. a Heading 3, etc.)

Note: The items within each carousel are ordered by moving them in the preferred order manually. You can accomplish this by dragging and dropping them in the tree.
