Adding Columns
Steps for adding a column to a page:
- Add the column component/rendering of choice to the page, via Presentation Details. Select from the following:
- Two-Thirds column left
- Two-Thirds column right
- half and half column left
- half and half column right
- Col rendering left
- Col rendering right
- Click on Publish.
- Click on Experience Editor. You should be able to see the column you added as each side will be a shaded box on the page.
- Click on the column properties box and the little icon on the furthest left (Edit the placeholder settings). A Select the Placeholder Settings dialog box will appear. Double click on the unique Placeholder GUID (Placeholder key). When you hover over it, it will appear that you cannot copy, but you can. This is the unique placeholder that needs to be used for dictating what content goes into what column on the page. At the end of the unique placeholder GUID, a value needs to be added at the end to tell Sitecore which column to place the content in.
- unique GUID example: /main/column-{1C36F11C-CF22-45C5-979A-4ACBBD646BB7}-0 = means the content will be in the first column
- unique GUID example: /main/column-{1C36F11C-CF22-45C5-979A-4ACBBD646BB7}-10 = means the content will be in the second column
- unique GUID example: /main/column-{1C36F11C-CF22-45C5-979A-4ACBBD646BB7}-20 = means the content will be in the third column
- unique GUID example: /main/column-{1C36F11C-CF22-45C5-979A-4ACBBD646BB7}-30 = means the content will be in the fourth column
This is content in the left column. Unique placeholder: /main/column-{1C36F11C-CF22-45C5-979A-4ACBBD646BB7}-0
